In 2015, I was among the original members who initiated the establishment of the Drone Operations Unit at the Collier County Sheriff's Office. As a pioneer, I obtained one of the initial official sUAS drone licenses issued by the FAA. Our department utilized drones for various purposes such as SWAT operations, search and rescue missions (SAR), marine operations, structural and forest fire oversight, bomb threats, and conducting rooftop checks. Throughout my career, I accumulated extensive flight experience, amounting to hundreds of hours operating drones. Acquiring a sUAS / drone license was a challenging endeavor, as it necessitated strict adherence to the FAA's regulations and guidelines. However, numerous individuals continue to employ drones for commercial purposes without conforming to the FAA's regulations.
Upon transitioning into the real estate sector, I was determined not to let my acquired skills go to waste. Now, I utilize my drone license and expertise to capture aerial photographs and videos of real estate properties. This additional service and skill set is offered to clients with the intention of presenting their properties in the most favorable manner. Recent research indicates that 97% of homebuyers incorporate the internet into their property search, emphasizing the significance of showcasing a property in its best possible light. By employing high-quality photography, a home can distinguish itself amidst the vast array of houses available for sale. A superior visual presentation through pictures, videos, and virtual tours has the potential to reduce the time a house spends on the market and elevate its selling price.
Photographers and realtors now have access to affordable drones equipped with high-quality cameras. Consequently, the utilization of aerial photography in the real estate industry has become more prevalent. Drones offer real estate agents the ability to present properties from a unique vantage point, showcasing factors such as the property's location within the neighborhood, its proximity to landmarks, bodies of water, forests, and more. The inclusion of drone images in listings captures greater attention, as evidenced by the aforementioned statistics emphasizing the significance of capturing buyers' interest. Notably, homes featuring aerial photos are known to sell 68% faster compared to those with only standard images.
